Soft Leaves on Indoor Plants

Soft = cells without turgor. Indoors, usually too much water or not enough light.

Soft leaves do not "perk up" with more watering. In an apartment, coco takes days to dry. Wait, drain, provide light.

Diagnosis

Heavy pot, odor, gnats: suffocation. Light pot and limp leaf: drought or dead roots. Darkness: it stretches and weakens.

Drainage holes, perlite, water when heavy, light. Repot if rotten. Silica gel does not water the plant: it’s for the environment.

Drainage mix and pot with drainage. Foliar fertilizer does not tense a suffocated leaf.

Hydrogel indoors?

Almost never. You’re overwatering.

Yes for climbing monstera, for architecture, not for turgor.
