Lavender

Mediterranean plant for poor, dry soil. Overwatering is its enemy.

Lavender wants to resemble a cliff, not a jungle. Perlite, clay pebbles, and sunlight. Hydrogel and vermiculite will rot it.

Care

Full sun, pot size 7-11 L, sparse watering, light pruning after flowering. Mineral substrate.

Bare woody base if not pruned young. Neck rot if the saucer retains water.

Clay pebbles and perlite, pot with real drainage holes. Don't treat it like a tomato.

Indoor?

Not good. It needs sun and air. A window can't replace an outdoor summer.

Watering in winter?

Almost none. A cold, wet root ball is a death sentence.

Without water drainage, even the most expensive substrate turns into a swamp with yellow leaves.

The solution to yellow swamp leaves is air in the root ball, no more fertilizer.

Woody drought plant. A “sad” rosemary is almost always overwatered, not thirsty.

Expanded mineral that retains water and cations. Ideal for overly dry terraces.
