Ocimum basilicum: warm annual. Cold and waterlogging kill it faster than drought.

Basil is not a plant for cold entryways. It prefers 18 °C or higher, light, and a substrate that drains like an adult seedling.

Care

Pot 5-7 L, sun, pinching at nodes, water when the surface dries. Separate the bunch from the supermarket.

Black leaves from cold, aphids in the greenhouse, soft stem from a full plate.

Pot 5-7 L with coconut and perlite. No permanent saucer.

Should it be brought inside in winter?

Only with strong light and heat. In a dark apartment, it will stretch and die.

Flower?

Cut it if you want leaves. The flower is edible, but for pesto, pinching is key.
