Plant problems

Yellow Leaves on Pepper

Pepper turns yellow due to water first, then hunger. Check the substrate before fertilizing.

1 min read

Yellow leaf on pepper is not a single diagnosis. If the new leaves are light, consider pH or iron; if the old ones, think N or watering.

Diagnosis

Soggy root ball: suffocation. Dry as a rock: thirst. Aphids on the shoot: deforms and yellows the tip. 5 L pot: always thirsty.

Action

Correct drainage (expanded clay, holes), deep and spaced watering, apply light fertilizer if watering is already correct. Don't add N to a swamp.

What we recommend at Control Garden

18-25 L pot and draining mix. Fertilizer won't fix a drowned pepper.

Is it a virus?
If there is mosaic, extreme curling, and previous aphids, it might be. Isolate it. Usually, it's watering.
Should I remove the yellow leaves?
Dead ones yes. Those still photosynthesizing, leave them until they dry.
