Red Spider Mite

It's not an insect: it's a mite. Soap spray on the underside and increasing humidity help.

1 min read

The red spider mite appears with dry heat. The first sign is not the Halloween web: it's light spots on the upper side and a "sandy" underside.

Identification

Chlorotic speckling, bronzing leaves, fine threads at tips. Under magnification, moving dots.

Control

Moisten the underside (soap if the label allows), increase relative humidity, do not spray in direct sunlight. Isolate indoor plants. Repeat: the eggs remain.

What we recommend at Control Garden

Agricultural soap and, indoors, extract stale dry air. A fan alone won't kill it; a timely wet underside will reduce the colony.
