Aphid

Soft insects on shoots and undersides. Honeydew, ants, and viruses. Act at the first curl.

1 min read

The aphid colonizes tender shoots in days. Don't wait for the leaf to curl completely: by then, there is a colony and often ants tending them.

Identification

Green, black, or yellow, 1-3 mm, clustered at tips and undersides. Sticky honeydew. Ants climbing the support.

Damage and Control

They suck sap, deform plants, and transmit viruses. Use potassium soap on the undersides, repeat. Ant gel around the perimeter. Ensure airflow and avoid excess nitrogen.

What we recommend at Control Garden

Agricultural soap 1 L and gel traps if there are signs of ants. Address both fronts at once.
