Ventilation and Carbon Filters in Cultivation
The filter is not decoration: without airflow and replacement, the smell passes and humidity stagnates.
An indoor cultivation without air is a terrarium of fungi. The carbon filter activates the dirty air; the duct carries it; the extractor pulls it out. If one of the three is faulty, you smell plants in the hallway and see condensation on the walls.
Flow Rate and Diameter
The extractor is chosen based on the volume of the cabinet × replacements/hour, not by color. The duct must match the opening: a sudden reducer from 150 to 100 mm chokes the flow and makes noise. Use a flexible aluminum duct, tight, without hanging bits.
The Filter
Carbon adsorbs odor. Clean mesh pre-filter every 2-4 weeks. When the smell “escapes,” the carbon is saturated: it is not washed, it is replaced. A pack of replacements 20×10 cm covers many compact systems.
Clean Installation
Extractor → filter → duct to the outside, or filter → extractor depending on the model (respect the direction of the arrow). Use clamps at each joint. Avoid unnecessary elbows. Extract hot air from the top; fresh air enters from below.
