How Ant Ant Gel Works
The gel doesn't kill instantly: workers take it to the nest. Use it in the garden, kitchen, and terrace.
Crushing workers is useless: the queen keeps laying. The super attractive gel works the other way around: you want them to take it. That's why it seems like it 'does nothing' on the first day, and by the week, the trail has disappeared.
The Bait Trick
The gel combines a food attractant with a slow-acting insecticide. Workers ingest it, regurgitate it in the nest (trophallaxis), and it reaches the larvae and queen. If the product killed instantly, no one would come back for more, and the colony would survive.
Where to Place It
On the trail, never on top of a freshly disturbed ant nest (they scatter). In the kitchen: next to dry baseboards, away from uncovered food and pets. In the garden: at the edge of the flowerbed, not at the neck of the plants. Closed traps prevent contact; the syringe allows for spots in cracks.
Do not clean the trail with bleach the same day: it erases the pheromone that guides them to the bait. Do not spray contact insecticide nearby: you would kill the messengers.
Real Times
Intense activity 24-72 hours (a good sign). Clear drop in 5-10 days. If after two weeks the trail is still the same, the bait is not liked or there is another nest: change the spot and check for aphids, which are the 'livestock' of many ants.
What We Recommend at Control Garden
Gel traps in packs of x2 to x8 and 10 g syringes for cracks. Choose traps if there are children or pets; syringe if the nest is in terrace joints.
